Born in 1956 in the dutch town of Kerkrade, Frank van Hemert was trained as artist at the TeHaTex in Tilburg (1975-1979) and in Ateliers ’63 in Haarlem (1980-1982) - He lives and creates in the beautiful open landscape near Amsterdam.
He was already well-known early in his career, partly because his work was selected for Documenta 7 in Kassel in 1982. This was followed by national and international exhibitions in museums and galleries and his work was included in both museums and private collections.
If you know his work, you know he likes to work in series, such as Secret Survivors, Me/You and Mind of Tibet. He has been inspired by Shamanism for a long time and uses Shamanic techniques to travel in parallel worlds, of which his most recent series are the result: Hölderlintürme, The darkness of God, Touch of Healing and Psychic Portraits. His works are all about the emotional foundations of our existence, which he aims to make visible and tangible to the viewer in his paintings and drawings.
